Hideo Date
Born in 1967 in Kagawa Prefecture and raised in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. He started playing guitar at the age of thirteen. He taught himself beginning with rock and then moved on to the blues. At the age of 24 he went overseas to the United States of America. Since then he made the city of Berkeley in the San Francisco Bay Area his home and base for his activities as a professional guitarist and instructor. Moving from acoustic blues to jazz, he created his own unique fingerpicking style with influences from Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell. Using A=432 Hz tuning, he seeks that profound and soothing sound that is the allurement of jazz guitar. Thanks to his long residence in America, although Japanese, he understands and expresses the philosophy of true American jazz and blues.
In 2016 He released a solo jazz guitar CD, 'The Artistry of Hideo Date." He tours and presents workshops annually in Japan. 2018 he released 2 new CDs, "Hideo Date Plays Country Blues" and "New Jazz Guitar Sound of 10 Japanese Classics" 2019 he released "New Jazz Guitar Sound of 10 Japanese Classics 2" which was recorded with the best jazz guitar sound you can find today. He has been focusing on his YouTube channel since 2020 and uploading new videos every week, mainly 432hz jazz and country blues guitar videos.
